You have endured a fate which some would consider worse than death, you have once been a captive of the aberrant race known as the Mind Flayers. Perhaps you were once a far traveler who ran afoul these creatures while traveling between the planes of existence, maybe you once foolishly followed the promise of great and forbidden knowledge, or you were simply the unfortunate captive of an illithid raid upon your hometown. Whatever the cause of your captivity might have been it has left you deeply scared as they subjected you to their alien forms of cruel experimentation. You know burden both the mental and physical scars of your captivity and do your best to live your life as normally as one can. You know however it is only a matter of time before you once again cross paths with your former masters and you will have to choose to once again run or stand and face down your tormentors.

- Languages: You can speak, read and write in the languages your former masters forced into your brain, that of Deep Speech and Under Common.

Illithid Scars
After your escape, you found that your mind and body had suffered horrific scars as a result of your captivity. You may choose or roll from table below two ill effects your time with the Mind Flayers inflicted upon you.

Feature: Solidarity of the Flayed
Those who have suffered as you have at the hands of the Illithids have an odd kinship with you. Tensions and rivalries that otherwise might put you at odds with others who have suffered the same fate as you are put aside in the interest of mutual solidarity. While these other victims won't risk their lives for you, they might offer you shelter or a helping hand as long as it does not come at too great a cost for themselves or those they care about. Additionally you have a horrific understanding Mind Flayer encampment, ships and buildings, at your DM's discretion you may gain insight in such facilities as to their layout, purpose and opperation.
