You are blind, whether by birth or circumstance, but your lack of vision has let you hone your other senses and skills - to the point where you can discern things at levels others of your race find almost unbelievable.
- Skill Proficiencies: Pick any 2 of Insight, Investigation, or Perception
- Languages: Learning to read or write in a given language is extra difficult and has to be done through touch. The written form of a language counts as a separate language from the spoken form for the purposes of learning it.
If your race grants you Darkvision, lose it. You are immune to the Blinded condition. Your other senses act to give you the equivalent of several types of "sight". The unusual nature of your perception gives you advantage on perception, insight, and investigation checks, unless any of your other senses are hampered, in which case you have disadvantage.
You have Blindsight to 50 feet. If your hearing, smell, or taste are hampered in any significant way, reduce this range by 10 feet per sense that is hampered. At level 5 these numbers are 75 and 15, at level 10 they become 100 and 20, and at level 16 they become 200 with a 40 foot range reduction per sense hampered.
You also have Tremorsense to 15 feet, gained through your sense of touch. This becomes 30 feet at level 10.
Finally, you can focus your senses together to really understand the world around you as it is. By succeeding at a DC:15 Perception check you can gain Truesight out to 10 feet for as long as you can maintain concentration. Once this has been performed you may not do so again until having a short rest.
Suggested Characteristics
Your lack of traditional eyesight almost certainly means you are treated differently in society. You may be pitied or shunned. In addition, most blind people have not been able to focus their senses to the level you can - so the rest of the society you come from may not know how well you can perceive things.
