While most do not stray far from the safety of their cities and villages, never traveling, you have spent your entire life on the road.
Your childhood has been a sparse and nomadic existence. Traveling mercilessly light, carrying with you only the essentials, valuing the portability of individual skill and strength of character over more "static" virtues. Despite your constant motion, there are certain locations you revere in a deep sense. Traveling in small bands along one of several pilgrimage routes you have visited dozens of sites in decades. As such, you have developed the skills to thrive where many would have died.
You have arrived at civilization now, the reasons, yours to disclose or hide. Though far from your band, you are compelled to move forward and discover new things.
- Skill Proficiencies: Survival and one Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma skill of your choice, as appropriate to your band.
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of musical instrument.
- Languages: One standard language of your choice
- Equipment: A musical instrument or an exotic weapon of your choice (like a sickle or a net), one set of traveler’s clothes, a hunting trap, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
As a pilgrim, you fit among those who wander for the same reasons. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among those who share your faith. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.
You have also an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
