Heretical Reformer (Acolyte Variant) Image

You have spent your life in the service of a temple to a specific god or pantheon of gods. However, you realized that the faith you followed and rites you performed were deeply misguided, and not in keeping with the true will of divinity.  You've made it your life's mission to overcome the vices of your previous religion.

Skill Proficiencies: Persuasion, Religion
Languages: Two of your choice
Equipment: A holy symbol (a gift to you when you entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.

Feature: Charismatic Prophet

As a Heretical Reformer, you are disdained by the religious establishment and seen as a destabilizing charlatan who only brings chaos. However, you've quickly developed a small following of devotees who are drawn to the vision of a better world you present.  These devotees will sacrifice a great deal to protect you, often at the expense of their own safety and well being.

Secular political authorities too are weary of your influence and how it might upset the current balance of forces, but might strategically ally with you if they feel that a particular religious tradition is becoming an encumbrance.

Suggested Characteristics

Heretical reformers are shaped by their experience in temples or other religious communities, and ecstatic visions of religion rightly understood. They are deeply suspicious of clerical authority and are typically unwilling to compromise their vision.
