"The trouble is that all the investigators proceeded in exactly the same spirit, the spirit that is of scientific curiosity, and with no possibility of telling whether the issue of their work would prove them to be fiends, or dreamers, or angels." - Robert Strutt
In a world filled with evil and magic, it has become extremely difficult to determine the difference between monsters and men. The detective has become a reliable way to solve crimes without the influence of higher powers within the realm of Faerun. Most detectives are members of the public who have taken their lawful attributes and utilize them to provide a service to those in need, usually with a monetary incentive. Some harness magic, while others prefer a more scientific and/or physical approach to solving crimes and hunting down criminals. Of recent, detectives have been seen gathering in large numbers to create agencies where fellow crime solvers can learn and train to become master investigators.

Most detectives have a fairly normal existence outside of their work environment. Each detective’s experiences are different, and no one is born into this life. Just like criminals have a reason to cause havoc, detectives have their own reasons for fighting criminals and solving mysteries.
