Sun Of Tempus Image

Founded by Vorstag Valorson The Suns of Tempus are an organization of horse riding enthusiasts that hire themselves out as protection for travelers between the cities. They have clubhouses at varying locations in around the cities. All races, sexes, and alignments are welcome as long as they worship Tempus with fervor. Becoming a cleric or paladin to Tempus is encouraged and recommended but not required. Expertise in horsemanship is required. A Suns mount is is their partner and is given full respect of a Sun.

All clubhouses have the following hierarchy of officers

- War Chief (leader and decider)

- War Councilor (second in command and first advisor)

- Pope (religion authority)

- Master of Arms (creation and repair of arms and armor)

- House Boss (day to day operation of the clubhouse)

- Buckaroo (overseer of stables and mounts)

- Barrister (all things coin and contract)

The other Suns are Crew Riders as laid out in the Crew Job Table.

A new Sun is considered a Prospect and given a red Prospect vest. When a Prospect completes a trial mission and achieves 2nd level they are granted a horse(type of horse is determined by The War Chief) and a copy of The War Scroll. Then they exchange their Prospect vest for a Sun Cut.

The Suns are a sect of the church of Tempus that adhere strictly to the teachings of an ancient artifact known as the War Scroll(the rumored existence of a Peace Scroll is dismissed as conspiracy theory and conjecture). Each Sun carries a copy and it is customary to perform The Reading of The Scroll when spreading the word of Tempus. The scroll begins with the line " AND LO TEMPUS RODE UPON THE BATTLEFIELD....."

The Suns are at odds with the church frequently and have lost status on numerous occasions. They dubbed Vorstag Valorson a heretic which he proudly uses as his main title "The Heretic"

The Suns are quick to action and prone to starting fights. The Suns reputation is varied and opinionated by the general populace.

Feature: Sun Shine

A Sun of Tempus is granted shelter and assistance at any Suns clubhouse provided they know the passwords and handshakes of the Suns. A Sun and their companions will be provided food, drink, and equipment(repair) that is needed. Monies and other barterable material may also be provided(if available) for official Suns missions.

A Sun Of Tempus is also provided any legal, religious, or commerce assistance as it pertains to formalities or transactions.

A Sun will receive the following boons for advancement and mission performance.

- pay increase

- rank promotion

- improved equipment

- tattoos

All boons are at the discretion of those rewarding them.

Variant Sun of Tempus: The Eclipsed

An Eclipsed is a Sun who has been cast out of The Suns. Reasons for being Eclipsed can be broad and are forever held. Some examples are Legal(being jailed for major crimes outside Sun business)Religious(lost faith in Tempus or The War Scroll)Ass Hattery(besmirching a Sun for personal or physical differences)Ratting(giving away Suns secrets or turning on a sun)The Act Most Foul(failure to care for your mount) or anything else deemed to dim the Suns Shine.

Eclipsed are shunned by the Suns, stripped of Sun Shine and are forbidden from Suns activities. All physical effects provided by the Suns are confiscated including cuts, mounts, wealth, equipment and tattoos. If found to be possessing any such articles will be met with Sun Justice. If found to be revealing Suns secrets or disrupting Suns activities will trigger Suns Justice.

An Eclipsed is subject to Suns Justice for any above violation. Suns Justice is anything they deem appropriate for the crime.

An Eclipsed retains all skills, proficiencies and knowledge provided by The Suns.

 

 
Variant Feature: Frenemies

An Eclipsed is provided avenues and assistance by rivals and enemies of the Suns. Food, shelter and equipment(repair) will be granted as long as seen you actively opposing the Suns. This extends to any accomplices. Monies and other barterable material may be provided if it disrupts Suns business.

An Eclipsed may be provided legal, religious, or commerce assistance if it involves the Suns.

An Eclipsed could receive the following boons for service and secrets

- monies and other valuables

- higher employment or rank

- improved equipment

- tattoos
