When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine which fighting organization you were a part of, how far through its ranks you progressed, and what kind of experiences you had during your career as a fighter. Was it an underground rink , a town tournament, or a gladiator rink? This will help determine who your audince was and how you were treated by your boss and

1: Bottom Feeder. You barley scrape by and are desperate to prove your worth, your very competitive. -3gp,
2:Scraps. better than a bottom feeder but less than useful. your brought out for higher ranked fighters to warm up. -2gp
3: Slack. Still at the bottom of the barrel but at least you get a meal 3/7 days a week if your unlucky. -1gp
4: Fighter, you have an actual standing in the rink, you not the best but you get by
5:Competent. As the name suggests you are a competent fighter and a a little well known. You get by. +2gp
6:Competitor. Your a good fighter, you rink master will introduce you to viewers so more pay to see you/ bet more money on you. +4gp
7: Rune Champ. Your a close to being the best of the best of the best. Your well known and your lower ranked company members look up at you with admiration and envy.
8: Champion. You are the best of the best of the best. You're well known by viewers/bidders and your lower ranked company members look up at you with admiration and envy.

You have a rank int the rink from your career as a Fighter. Fighters loyal to your former ring master/boss/owner still recognize your authority and influence, and they defer to you if they are of a lower rank. You can invoke your rank to exert influence over other soldiers and requisition simple equipment or horses for temporary use. You can also usually gain access to friendly fighters living quarter's and training camps where your rank is recognized.
You company of of fighters has people that work with your ring master or another. There's friendly competition between such company's and don't let rivalries get in the way of help. If its a death before dishonor company its a different story.

Having to fight to survive changes a person. Your constantly working to defeat your foe or risk going to bed hungry. You want to prove your worth and cant show weakness easily, as its every man for himself.
