Tearans are a proud, ancient, people. Their society is arcane oriented. To walk down the streets of Tear is to be awed by magic brooms cleaning the streets and driverless carts carrying goods and people across the city. As such, they favor, but are not restricted to, arcane classes. Even martial classes often have an arcane aspect. (arcane trickster, Eldritch Knight)
Tearans are wary, even disdainful of outsiders. They believe themselves to be the first people and as such above others. They do not believe in or worship gods. They insist all magic is natural and different schools of magic simply access the magical firmament in different ways.

History is important to the Tearan people. They pride themselves in teaching their children the expansive history of their people, city, and the continent on which they live. Tearans are highly resistant to charm and sleep. They receive advantage on any charm or sleep check.

All Tearan spellcasters possess the ability to encode their memories into crystals, which can be read by others, or retrieved by the spellcaster later. The quality of the crystal used in storage is dependent on social standing. The noble tier uses precious stones as a familial archive. Each house has its own symbolic stone.
