Most people think that an underachiever is a person who fails to achieve his or her potential or does not do as well as expected by his peers. But that's just, like, their opinion. Some underachievers are living life on the luck plane, others are simply too lazy to fail. There are as many motivations for avoiding doing stuff as there are slackers in the multi-verse. While the life of a slacker might seem idyllic underachievers frequently have to deal with the disapproval of family and community as well as their own regrets. These hardships can have adverse effects, but those who cope with them can achieve a grounded worldview, freedom, and sense of peace few will experience. Those who fail can become depressed, nihilistic -- or worse.
