You grew up in a small forest village, far away from civilisation and the comforts of town and technology. You became a survivalist out of necessity to help provide for your people. As you came of age, the Wilds called to you. As you travelled a traumatic event occurred, partly of your own creation. Due to this, you put yourself in self-imposed exile within the High Forest. Though you have put yourself in exile, you would not stand and watch those in need of aid within the Forest. You became a warden, appearing from the trees to help those who need it before retreating back into solitude.
Being raised by an Archdruid within the ancient boundaries of Illefarn and Llewyrrwood, the wilds are in your blood, whether you were a nomad, an explorer, a recluse, a hunter-gatherer, or even a marauder. Even in places where you don’t know the specific features of the terrain, you know the ways of the wild. During your time relying on no-one but yourself you have learned to improvise and craft just about anything you need given time and resources to do so.
Residing within the High Forest, you have explored all manner of places. You have explored the surface of the Underdark, roamed within the forest itself, and with your Elven heritage even traversed through the Feywild. These experiences have all left their mark on you in subtle ways.
- Skill Proficiencies: Survival and then choose one of the following: Stealth, Athletics, Acrobatics, Arcana, Investigation, Nature, Insight, Perception, or Medicine.
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan’s tools and one type of musical instrument.
- Languages: Roaming through the High Forest and interacting with the Fey, you have learned Sylvan out of necessity.
- Equipment: A set of artisan's tools of your choice, an instrument that you have crafted yourself, a small leather pouch of 10gp, a small skinning knife, a tinderbox, string, 50ft of rope, and a waterskin.
Previously you were a care-free creature, content to roam where the winds took you and explore various cultures and places; that is until something happened that destroyed your spirit and psyche. After this event you were too scarred to continue as you were, you imposed yourself to exile from society within the High Forest.
| d6 | Defining Trauma |
|---|---|
| 1 | I fell in love with a commoner, in the end she led me to an ambush to be robbed. In self defense I killed them all, but in the fray I killed the one I loved. |
| 2 | I was staying in a small village for a length of time, no-one could really protect themselves so I unwittingly took the role. While I was out hunting, the village was razed by bandits and I couldn't save them. I had to bury 23 people that day. |
| 3 | I was teaching a friend how to hunt when we came across a colossal beast. I tried to fend it off, but my friend was killed. I had to carry his body home and tell his family. |
| 4 | A previous lover and I found a nearby grove to spend the night in. Little did I know it was haunted until she became possessed by something supernatural being. In self-defense I had to kill the one I love. |
| 5 | I was hunting within a forest when I heard a snap behind me. A whipped around and fired my arrow by reflex. I saw the arrow pierce a young hunter's throat as she fell to the floor. She was barely an adult trying to provide for her village. |
| 6 | I met up with a small group of like-minded people and joined their hunting tribe for a short while. One winter, food grew scarce and people were desperate. I was the newest, they tried to kill me to be roasted. I had to kill them instead. |
You have an excellent memory for the terrain and geography around you. You can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you and will always be able to find food and fresh water for yourself and up to three other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth.
In addition, given your willingness to help others is evident, you will easily find those among the common folk who will be willing to aid you if they can; whether this be with meagre supplies or a place to rest or lie low.
Spell List
