You are a survivor of a horrible and potentially deadly event. This painful tragedy in your past is worn plainly for all to see in the form of terrible scars - you may have lost your eyes, a hand, a leg, or something else that limits your physical abilities. These scars are what drove you from your home - maybe your people no longer believed you to be a useful member of society, or perhaps you could not bear the pity in your loved ones' eyes. Whatever the reason, you left, and have no intention of returning. Your circumstances may have changed but you are still capable of making a new life for yourself.
Note: characters of any background may have an injury or disability. This is not intended to limit such characters to one particular background, but merely as an option for those whose injury is the most defining part of their history.
- Skill Proficiencies: Beginning your journey alone, you had only yourself to rely on. You developed skills that would help you to survive. You are proficient in Survival and your choice of Medicine, Nature or Perception.
- Tool Proficiencies: Much experience at getting by alone has given you proficiency with your choice of either Cook's Utensils, Herbalism Kit, Navigator's Tools, or Thieves' Tools. You have become practiced at using a Disguise Kit to hide your scars as best as you can.
You tend to be perceived as less dangerous than you actually are. Intelligent enemies are less likely to target you, and it is easier to avoid drawing unwanted attention.
