You have spent your life learning to art of creation, whether you were born a structural engineer in the dwarven mines or a siege engineer for a warmaster. You have an inherent understanding of how things work and can quickly discern complicated mechanisms often without even touching them.
- Skill Proficiencies: You have proficiency in Investigation, in addition you can choose from proficiency in Perception, Arcana, History, Sleight of Hand or Medicine, your understanding of the world around you and how it works has given you a keen eye and nimble hands.
- Tool Proficiencies: You are proficient with Tinkers tools as well as one other tool proficiency of your choice.
- Equipment: Coming from an engineering background you carry with you a trusty set of tools you have worked with and grown to love over many years. You would rather spend days repairing these tools should they break than replacing them with a new tool.
Feature: Mechanical Master
You can modify the appearance of items in your possession during a long rest, for example you may wish to fashion as holder for your wand that looks like a pistol, or changing the appearance of your helm to make it appear more intimidating.
In addition if you come across any mechanically engineers constructs, such as a complex locking mechanism with gears, or siege equipment, you can quickly establish how it works and relay that information to your colleagues in a way they can understand. This may help a rogue to pick a lock, or a barbarian to know which part of a catapult to strike with his axe to do the most damage. The effects of this feature are up to your DMs interpretation.
