You have been born into the life of a shinobi, trained at a young age in the various skilled arts of Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu and so much more.  You've learned basic survival techniques, including how to stay alive on the battlefield. You may come from a Clan, a Village, a small Organization, or something more sinster.

When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine your origin, how far through its ranks you progressed, and what kind of experiences you had during your Ninja career.

 
Skill Proficiencies: Stealth, Acrobatics, Athletics and one additional Skill.
Tool Proficiencies: Disguise Kit, Forgery Kit, Herbalism Kit, Poisoner's Kit, or Thieves' Tools.
Equipment: A headband from your village or place of training, a simple or martial weapon, a set of kunai, a set of combat clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp

You have a ninja rank from your career as a shinobi. Shinobi loyal to your military organization still recognize your authority and influence. You can invoke your rank to exert influence over other ninja and requisition simple equipment or horses for temporary use. You can also usually gain access to friendly military encampments and fortresses where your rank and village is recognized.

The front-line action, along with with rigorous training of ninja become apart of their lifestyles, shaping their ideals, creating strong bonds, and often leaving them scarred and vulnerable to fear, shame, and hatred. But some have an abundance of endearing, if not knowledgeable and confident characteristics.
