Perhaps your entire life is spent within the walls of your master(s) or you have the freedom to live out your life, but choose to serve these people for your own reasons. You have been in the company of many high-profile or extremely wealthy individuals, dress and speak as they do and - on occasion - are bought or traded between them. Whether you were born into the life of a servant, forced to serve a greedy and repugnant master, or chose the life for wealth and happiness, you were at the beg and call of these people for better or worse.

There are some handmaids who are more silent whether by choice of their master or themselves, though during social gatherings, all handmaids must know how to greet and speak to those of the high and royal class.
