as a child in the "the broken ones". a monk tribe or clan that took care of him and trained him in things like keeping peace and to be law abiding. unfortunately the the monks temple was settled on a gold mine so, naturally, many creatures came to raid the temple. before any bigger attacks had happened the monks new they were in for some bigger threats due to how much gold they had. only the respected adults of "the broken ones" new about this risk and kept it to themselves. the monks had to do something about it so they trained the children in combat but not telling them why. Hunk the monk was one of these students and he was doing better than any other student. eventually Hunk got annoyed at how he thought the monks were teaching him hard combat for no reason and being bullied by classmates because of his friendship with his teacher, he left the temple in anger, after continually asking his teacher, Kyro, why he was being trained. he was out in the woods for days, alone, but eventually came to his senses an thought about how much he needs his teacher to live. Hunk went back home to the temple but when he was near he began to see and smell smoke. he went even faster to the temple, now running, with all the worst possibilities rushing through his head at what could have happened to his temple or his teacher but when he got there, there was no temple or teacher. only ruins and orcs running away with gold that Hunk didn't even know existed. Hunk thought the least he could do to honor his temple was to use what he had been taught rather than disrespect it.
