The Night Owl's Sentinel began in the far-off land of Kadruul, trading secret messages through a network of monks, retired warriors, and other stealthy types to cleanse the abusive culture surrounded by many taverns, inns, brothels, etc. Today, Kadruul is a relatively peaceful region of Sil'Daros, and some Sentinels have grown restless while waiting for late-night treachery to raise its ugly head again. A contingent of such Sentinels traveled all across Sil'Daros to set up a network of secret bases in the various cities, from which they are presently working their way into the highest echelons of the Cordellian Empire.
- Skill Proficiencies: You are a Sentinel. Your goals are to protect the weak in dangerous environments that can lull many victims into a false sense of security.
Like every Sentinel, you know how to find a hideout. In any city of 10,000 people or more in the Cordellian Empire, you can play, or ask someone to play, the “Ballad of the Sentinel” in a major tavern or inn. A member of the Night Owl's Sentinel will find you and give shelter to you and any companions you vouch for. This shelter might be discontinued if it becomes too dangerous to hide you, at the DM’s discretion.
This feature must be used with caution, for not all who know the ballad are your friends. Some are traitors, counterspies, or agents of deceit.
Suggested Characteristics
Sentinels are trained in the art of secrecy and protection, and are skilled at hiding in plain sight by having more fun than anyone else in the room. Their skills in subterfuge and combat lend themselves well to an adventuring lifestyle, and traveling with mercenaries and treasure hunters creates a convenient excuse to journey through lands bent under tyranny.
