There are many kinds of runners, young kids fleeing an abusive family member, a reluctant soldier that abandoned their post, convicted of a crime (rightly or not) you found an opportunity to escape, maybe you are a fugitive pursued for a crime you did not commit (or did out of passion or desperation), possibly you were cast from your homeland by invaders with no chance of returning, or maybe you were marked by a guild for death always one step ahead of their assassins.
