Politician

You are an elected official in a specified location, and wield significant political influence in that region. You might be a pampered aristocrat unfamiliar with work or discomfort, a former merchant just elected, or you could be an honest, hard-working landowner who cares deeply about the people who live and work on your land, keenly aware of your responsibility to them.

Work with your DM to come up with an appropriate position and determine how much authority that position carries. An elected official can have any number of powers. Are you one of the highest ranking officials in the region? Or are you a local upstart making a name for yourself?

Are you an incumbent, or did you replace a former incumbent? How much influence do you wield, and over what area? What kind of reputation do you have among the other elected officials of the region? How do the common people regard them?

 

What made you leave the position behind to adventure? Did you lose the election? Did you tire of the political environment? Was there a coup? Was there a terrible scandal? Discuss with your DM possible events that led to your exit from office.

Suggested Characteristics

Politicians come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Some are wealthy nobles and merchants seeking more power, while others are local farmers attempting to look out for there community. Politicians have all sorts of motivations as well. Some are motivated by power, money or recognition, while others seek to better their communities. Be creative with how/why your character decided to run for election.
