You are a professional traveller and writer, you visit places and journal your experiences in a book that will then be published.
Work with your DM to discuss if this is a new project, or maybe just the next book being written in a series of journals already published. Are you a well known figure, or are you just starting out? Are you aiming to travel to specific places, or experience specific things?
How does your class fit into this? Did you train to defend yourself in wild lands, travelling alone? Or did the urge to travel come from powers you've grown up with, and are you hoping to learn about who you truly are, and write a training manual for others?

- Languages: You gain proficiency in 1 additional language when you take this background.
As a writer, you are able to enter places others may not go in the name of your journalistic endeavour. Guards will let you pass in the name of free press to report on large gatherings of nobility, high profile legal proceedings or other matters of significance. You have advantage on charisma based checks when speaking with city guards barring your way.
In addition to this, you have a keen eye for what is going on in the local area. After 6 hours in any city, town or village, you are aware of any recent scandals, acts of heroism or scurrilous rumours. The nature and depth of this knowledge is determined by your DM, but as a minimum you learn the locations of the most popular tavern, general store and guardhouse.
