Racial Requirement: Kobold

The Kobold clans of the world are numerous and scattered throughout the far reaches of the land both above and below the surface.  As a member of one of these clans, you understand their innerworkings and norms easily integrating into their rigid social structure.

Skill Proficiencies: Your people are acutely aware of their lack of strength when compared to the other inhabitants of the world.  As such, survival depends on their ability to navigate a number of situations, even if that means groveling for their own safety. You gain proficiency in one of the following: Perception, Persuasion, or Survival.
Tool Proficiencies: You gain a tool proficiency based on your choice in the Specialized Jobs feature.
Languages: Holding their origins with Dragons all Kobolds speak Draconic. After millennia of sporadic contact with their enormous cousins through enslavement, servitude, or otherwise, Kobolds have developed a distinct dialect of Draconic called Yikyak. The Yikyak dialect adds a numerous amount of clicking and snapping noises to Draconic, making it distinct from it's mother tongue. You are able to converse with another creature that understands Yikyak as if it is another language.

Specialized Jobs

Kobold society maintains a number of specialized jobs for each individual. You may choose from one of the following job types that you held while dwelling among your people:

Miner - Kobolds are among one of the most prolific mining species. They are commonly used as menial laborers for greater forms of Dragonkin to search for precious minerals, ores, and gems.  You gain proficiency with either Mason's Tools or Carpenter's Tools.

Trapmaker - In order to dissuade interlopers, Kobolds are master trap makers. You gain proficiency with either Tinker's tools or the Poisoner's kit.

Scout - There are many species that dwell in the dark places of the world, and it was your job to traverse the tunnels that they created in order to protect your clan. You gain proficiency with Navigator's tools.

Variant Kobold Clansman: Urd (Winged Kobold)

Kobolds are the distant descendants of Dragons. In rare instances and Urd will be born into Kobold society. Urd's are born with Dragon-like wings that are capable of flight. As Urds are so incredibly rare, you are unable to blend in with fellow Kobolds and the leader of any group that consists of multiple Kobolds may see you as threatening to their status among their underlings. In addition, other Kobolds may view you with envy and are less likely to comply with your demands or requests without a show of power.

Variant Feature: Urd's Wings

If your character is an Urd you gain the following features:

You gain a flight speed of 30ft.

Your flight speed is reduced to 15ft if you are wearing medium or heavy armor.

Your flight speed is reduced to 15 if you are below 1/4 of your max HP.

Your flight speed is reduced to 0 if you are over encumbered.

You may not carry another creature above size small while in flight, though you may glide (not moving in an upwards direction) at the Dungeon Master's discretion if carrying a creature of size Medium.
