You spent years living a nightmare, either real, in your mind, or both. Circumstances provided you with the necessary tools for your escape, but your mind is left traumatized - fragmented by the horrors you were left to endure. There appears to be no cure for this madness, but in madness, you've been granted additional clarity. You've seen the threads that hold the universe together. You understand the tenuous balance between life and death and that understanding has caused the lines to blur. Sometimes you wonder if what you're experiencing is real, or if it's just another illusion your mind has created to help you to cope with your endless nightmare.

When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign.
