You are a creature that has lived for a very long time. How did you become a cryptid? Were you cursed to freeze in time? Perhaps a vampire took the life from your body and now you live eternally undead. Maybe a deity granted you eternal life? Many seek the power of immortality. Whether you sought it out or it was placed upon you unwillingly you have it now. How recently did you receive your immortality? And what are you going to do with your now unlimited time?
Being a cryptid does not actually prevent you from dying in-game. Most forms of immortality actually end upon death. In certain circumstances, your body might move to a different plane to regenerate over many millennia.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Arcana, Deception, Religion, Survival, Nature, Persuasion, or Perception.
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan's tools, thieves' tools, gaming set, musical instrument, herbalism kit, or kit.
- Languages: Any two languages of your choice.
- Equipment: A small trinket that reminds you of something from long ago, a set of fine clothes, one tool you are proficient with, and a pouch containing 30 gp
Due to your immortal nature, you require much less sleep than your typical mortal counterparts. Akin to the long lived Elves you enter a deep trance, remaining semiconscious for 4 hours a day. While in this trance, you can dream after a fashion as you reconnect yourself daily to the source of the immortal energies which gave rise to you. Such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflective through years of practice, regenerating your body and mind while rendering you immune to magical sleep and charm effects. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Posted Jan 5, 2025Its really fun to play, I'm using it on a character and really enjoying it, my DM is also enjoying playing around with the plot threads having an immortal in the party brings up. Especially since right now its a secret.
