Perhaps it was a natural disaster, a freak accident, or traumatic incident that changed you fundamentally. You then lost your sense of self in this phenomenon, become a person obsessed. You dedicated unmeasurable time and energy into learning everything you can find on the phenomenon, which could include a specific monster, diety, type of magic, etc.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiencies in History and one of these most suitable to the source of your fanaticism: Animal Handling, Arcana, Medicine, Nature, or Religion.
You have advantage on History checks pertaining to the source of your fanaticism.
For instance, if you were changed by a dragon attack on your village and became obsessed with dragons, you would choose Animal Handling, and have advantage on dragon related History checks.
- Languages: If the source of your fanaticism has a related language, you learn to speak it.
For example, if your obsession was dragons, you would know Draconic.
- Equipment: You gain a Scholar's Pack. Includes backpack, a book of lore, a bottle of ink, an ink pen, 10 sheets of parchment, a little bag of sand, and a small knife.
You also have one token of your obsession.
The obsessive research you have conducted has led you to uncover, reveal, or discover a little known or previously unknown bit of knowledge about the source of your obsession. Due to the extreme nature of your obsession, the knowledge alone that you have could be your discovery, and you likely know almost all there is about this phenomenon. Work closely with your DM to determine the details of your obsessive discovery and the impact it has on the narrative.
