At a young age you presented signs of being able to commune with the Ethereal Plane. A Shaman from your family, village, clan or tribe took you as an apprentice and helped you learn how to focus this ability.

Choose an ancestor that you have a particular affinity for contacting. This can be a family member, friend, mentor, or historical figure from your village/clan/tribe. For whatever reason, this individual is easier for you to contact.

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Nature
Languages: Two of your choice from the following: Giant, Primordial, Sylvan.
Equipment: A wooden totem (crafted by you upon your apprenticeship to a Shaman), a prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, a headdress made of leather, feathers, bone, and wood, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp.

Feature: Shelter of your Ancestors

Your Ancestor provides you with insight into your life and decisions. They might be able to answer questions, peer into the future, or find something you seek.

You can spend 10 minutes in meditation to attempt to contact your Ancestor. Roll a d20 against a DC of 20 minus your Wisdom Modifier + Proficiency Bonus. On a success, you can converse with them for 1 minute. The DM might require additional rolls to determine what information you gain. Your ancestor will always tell the truth to the best of their knowledge.

You can use this feature once per long rest, and must have your totem.
