You have lived your life in the service of your tribe. Quickly you learned that works of metal are far superior to that of bone, wood, and leather, dedicating yourself to their production in all forms. Whether you learned your skills through trial and error, were taught by a fellow tribal craftsman, or apprenticed at a blacksmith’s shop, you use your talent to improve the quality of life for your tribe. Being a nomadic people, you will visit local settlements to trade and use their forge or use more primitive tribal forges secreted throughout your tribe’s territory. You know the location of veins of ore in this same area and are constantly on the lookout for new locations.
- Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Perception
- Tool Proficiencies: Pick, Miner's, Smith's Tools
- Languages: One language related to the craftsman you apprenticed under or the people you commonly trade with.
- Equipment: A miner’s pick (well worn and perfectly balanced after years of use), smith’s tools, a maker’s mark chisel used to mark your handiwork with the symbol of your tribe, a set of common clothes, and two obsidian gems in a leather pouch.
Feature: Craftsman's Candor
Through your years of experience you’ve been able to glean specialized knowledge on the different forms and uses of metals. Your knowledge and skill are immediately recognized by those who share your craft and gaining information from them can be done easily while plying your trade. Almost a sixth sense, you are able to find veins of ore, discern different metal types, and haggle for discounts on raw materials. Your DM will set the probability at which you find veins of ore and the difficulty of harvesting. In addition, you can use the forge of any friendly creature by providing labor or imparting new knowledge to them.
Suggested Characteristics
Metalworkers are invaluable to a tribe and are celebrated among the members, though some believe pillaging is superior to crafting. You understand the value of hard work and the importance of your role among the tribe, however you are not immune to the temptation of power and the sins of greed.
