War Messenger Image

When your people were at war and you took the role of messenger, having to travel through both enemy and friendly territory safely and swiftly. You carried important documents and information that could change the course of the war, did you ever interfere? Change a word or phrase to convey an entirely different meaning? Or did you just let the conflict run its course at the hands of those with the right authority?
You spent a lot of time in hiding and still have contact with those who helped you maintain cover. You can blend in different social circles with ease and communicate in code without a problem.

Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Stealth
Tool Proficiencies: disguise kit, forgery kit
Languages: You know the language of the race your side considers their enemy and the code you used in the messages so that enemies cannot understand them.
Equipment: A disguise kit, a Clothes, traveler's, a tool required for you to blend in (enemy soldier's uniform, a musical instrument, etc. Choose depending on your Go-to Persona) and a pouch containing 15 gp

Go-to Persona

As a messenger you had to cross enemy lines frequently and blend in with those on the other side. For such purposes you had to come up with many lies and disguises, but there is one image of you that prevailed over others. Perhaps you pretended to be part of an entertainment crew for the soldiers or a soldier yourself, or maybe a driver carrying provisions. Construct the persona you took on most frequently, maybe someone you meet in your adventure will recognize you.

d6 Go-to Persona
1 Soldier
2 High ranking officer
3 Spouse of a high ranking officer
4 Entertainer
5 Villager
6 Delivery of provisions

Feature: Boundless Memory

You have an excellent memory for maps, messages, codes, people and places, plus an incredible sense of direction. You can recall the general layout of roads and paths you've travelled and can find your way back to them if you had to go off-road to avoid someone spotting you. You met a lot of people while carrying messages and you never forget a face, you can recall the general interaction you had with someone, whether they are trustworthy or not.

Suggested Characteristics

As all who live to see war, you have watched creatures commit terrible atrocities against each other, even having to be the one to inform of them to your superiors or the victim's families. This has shaped the way you view others and how you interact with them. You have a great memory and there are scenes you will never stop witnessing.

Variant War messenger: Double Agent

Not satisfied with staying on the side-lines, you decided to get as close to the action as possible and pretend to fight in favor of the enemy. You provide information on the enemy's movements and intervene their plans, all while maintaining cover. Did you stay faithful to your people or did doubt claw its way into your mind?
