At a young age you had to fend for yourself. Either as a runaway or exile, you have been abandoned by society. You grow up in the woods, living off the land and having little interaction with settlements. You've witnessed the migration of herds larger than forests, survived weather more extreme than any city-dweller could comprehend, and enjoyed the solitude of being one of the only thinking creature for miles in any direction. The wilds have taken root in your blood. Even in places where you don't know the specific features of the terrain, you know the ways of the wild.
While you wander, or even settle in the woods you keep one ear out for knowledge. Sneaking into the closest town every once and a while for books and supplies. You spent years in solitude learning the lore of the multiverse. You scoured manuscripts, studied scrolls, and, when you could, listened to the greatest experts on the subjects that interest you. Your efforts have made you a master in your fields of study.
You’re mind is hardwired differently. You find that You have an excellent memory for maps and geography, and you can always recall the general layout of terrain, settlements, and other features around you. In addition, you can find food and fresh water for yourself and up to five other people each day, provided that the land offers berries, small game, water, and so forth. All the while you seem to have this innate ability to know where and from whom you can obtain information for when you attempt to learn something you don’t know or recall something you do.
Suggested Characteristics
Derelicts are often alone, as such they are lacking severely in the area of social skills. They might come off as dilapidated or shabby by those in civilized culture. With little respect for the niceties of life within cities they seek to isolate themselves whenever possible. The ties that they have to the natural world, those they consider family and the knowledge they seek is most important to them. They can also be defined by their scholarly studies. They value knowledge more than most would deem healthy.
