Andruil grew up with her loving family in a small elven village named Seliana. Seliana is located in the center of the Wealdath forests, one of the largest forests in Faerun. Her village was founded and named after her family for they are the longest living elven bloodline in Faerun. For hundreds of years the village leadership has fallen to her bloodline since it was founded. Her mother, Mythal Van Hayden and her father, Elgar'nan Van Hayden are the current leaders of her village. On the negative side, a lot of responsibility falls on her shoulders being the only daughter to the village leaders. Even though, Andruil does in fact have several half sisters and brothers. To her annoyance she is the only true blooded Van Hayden, and thus it has become her duty to take up leadership when she becomes of age. Due to these facts, Andruil became resentful of her duties as the next in line. She became rebellious and refused to participate in the village’s political affairs.
Andruil spent most of her time in seclusion while wondering in the nearby forests. She enjoyed going on hunts with the village Rangers and thus became the skilled Ranger she is today. She enjoyed learning literature with the village scholars and they indulged her inquisitive mind. She learned mostly about the world of Faerun and the adventures it could entail. She became interested in alchemy, she taught herself the basics from the books that laid about in their libraries. She quickly utilized it for poisons and potions while scouting with the Rangers. Much like the other Rangers, Andruil has a distaste for unnatural magic. She often encountered necromancer passing by with their undead pawns. Andruil and the other Rangers never hesitated to put them out of this world. For elves generally see such magic as a means of controlling the natural world, which was contrary to the common ethic of living in harmony with nature rather than trying to dominate it.
Furthermore, with Andruil’s constant studies on different cultures and life in Faerun, she became especially interested in the dragons that roam Faerun. Within the forest, she heard stories of battles between Bronze dragons and Green Dragons. Andruil has even seen a few dragons fly over the village. She loves to study dragons and become closer to them. When the others elves of her village would try to discourage her by telling stories of ancient battles between elves and dragons, she would always side with the dragonkin. Andruil was looked down upon for her strong beliefs in dragons. Some of the village scholars saw this as a good sign.
When Andruil started to mature and grow. Her Trance from the Feywild stopped and she started to get her first "adult trances" However, instead of reflecting on her past experiences, she kept having the same trance over and over. It was of a grove that is not too far from her village (maybe 10 miles or so) Its dense forests and wildlife make it almost impossible to get to. In this trance, Andruil wore faded gold armor with emerald edges, her face and skin appeared blurred in this trance. There were massive fights between metallic and chromatic dragons in the sky as she progressed down the path to get to this grove. Andruil had supernatural speed through this dense forest, almost like she was a master at traversing the wilderness. As Andruil approached the grove she noticed a large Red dragon with 5 heads in the distance. All the heads of this dragon were red and as it flew towards her, it slayed many metallic dragons mid-flight with just a single claw or swipe. This Dragon was also about 5 times the size of the other dragons. As Andruil entered the clearing of the grove, she spotted a small pond with a bridge made of dark grey bone leading out to a large tree Stump coming out of the middle of the pond. As she got closer, she could see a large Golden Egg sitting on the stump. When she got closer to the egg, she noticed all of the dragons in the sky looked at her and they let out a loud roar as they raced towards her. Andruil looked up and saw the giant red 5 headed dragon looking at her. It rears back all 5 heads about to engulf her in flames. Right before it does, Andruil reached out and touched the golden egg and she was woken up from her Trance.
Andruil then began her journey to the grove in her trance to see if it is all true. It takes her weeks to get to the grove, as it is a dense forest and it’s very hard to navigate. Andruil eventually gets to the grove with the bone bridge over the pond. There were no dragons and no fighting. just peace. Andruil rushes over the bridge to touch the dragon egg. She picks up the Dragon Egg and heads back to her village. Over the course of months, the villagers seem to regard her dubiously. They don’t seem to trust Andruil and they believe she stole the egg from a dragon. However, some of the elders know of Dragon Riders, they protected her from the rest of the village and they taught her about the legendary riders, about Bahamut, about Tiamat and about the history of Dragons.
Andruil's trances then switch to something different. Instead of trancing about the Feywild or about her past adventures. She trances about being in a large palace atop a giant misty mountain. The palace is filled with Dragons and Dragonborn. The walls are made of gems and platinum. After every trance she felt different. Her eyes changed from elvish to draconic. She learned how to speak draconic, and she developed a bond with dragons. Andruil learned what it means to be a dragon and the importance of defending their bloodline. Even her voice and accent changed to more of a draconic sound. After many moons of her reflecting on this palace and living through her new trance. Andruil’s egg hatches to reveal a baby gold dragon. After a few weeks of bonding with this dragon, Andruil received a letter from a Courier. This letter states... "Hail adventurer, we have noticed you and your new companion. We see greatness in you. We see you wish to learn all there is about these "Dragons" We also know that you are not an ordinary elf. You are a Dragon Rider. We wish to speak to you about joining the ranks of our guild.
