You are a miner. You work in the depths, digging, shoveling, hauling, and sifting. After a long day of back-breaking labor, you finally get to take a well-earned rest, just so you can get up the next day and do it all over again. After years of toiling in the mines, you realize that adventuring couldn't be any harder or more dangerous than what you already face every day.

Type of Miner

Even though all miners share common traits and risk, there are still various specialties among them.

d6 Type of Miner
1 Foreman. You are the one in charge of and responsible for all the miners, and their quotas.
2 Digger. You are one of the official grunts of the group, spending your time picking and shoveling.
3 Cartman. You are in charge of getting the mine carts in and out of the mine. It's a pushy job, but better than being a digger.
4 Roofer. You are responsible for shoring, inspecting, and repairing the roofs of the mine. Everyone is relying on you to keep them safe.
5 Ventilator. You are responsible for checking the air for viability and determining when and where additional air shafts need to be added.
6 Sniffer. You are the one that evaluates the mineral seams and determines where new shafts and tunnels need to go.

Feature: Hi Ho!

Morale plays a big part during long, tiring labors, and knowing where your friends are in the maze of tunnels can help ease your mind. After all, a cry for help in the mines usually requires expediency. Through years of practice you have trained your ears to work past the echoes and sense direction in such an environment. When given multiple choices of tunnels to explore, a voice or sound can be interpreted by your mind to know which path to choose to quickly reach the emanation. Furthermore, you are accustomed to the dangers in mines, such as falls, water, and gases, gaining advantage on any checks to avoid such dangers in underground conditions, such as pits, traps, and ceiling collapses. In addition, you know the most likely sources of finding water underground and finding an exit, gaining advantage on checks for either circumstance.

Suggested Characteristics

Miners are hardy and typically loyal to their comrades. They have to trust those they work with implicitly, as their lives may depend on it at any moment. Earning that trust is usually not done quickly nor easily, and they know that their actions must reflect favorably to others who would need to trust them.
