A Bookhound is a traveler. They search out rare and mysterious books for Alcuin's Wykepedia. This can be from book stores in remote cities, from auctions where rare books are sold or from old ruins and remnants of lost civilizations.

A Bookhound is a negotiator and a bargainer. They must know the value of the works that they are searching for and be able to obtain it for a fair price.

A Bookhound is sometimes, regrettably, a thief. There are times when a rare or dangerous volume is in the possession of an unscrupulous person and must be retrieved without their permission. This type of action is never to be taken lightly and must be fully approved by the Bookhound's 2nd Desk.

The Bookhounds are the most respected desk at the Wyke being seen as adventurous travelers. Most of the other desks are jealous.

Skill Proficiencies: In order to negotiate for books you gain either Persuasion or Deception, plus your less ethical means of acquisition has taught you Sleight of Hand
Tool Proficiencies: Your travels have given you proficiency with either Cartographer’s tools or Navigator’s tools
Languages: One of your choice

Feature: Historical Knowledge

You have a knack for locating bookstores in a city. When you enter a ruin or dungeon, you can correctly ascertain its original purpose and determine its builders, whether those were dwarves, elves, humans, yuan-ti, or some other known race. In addition, you can determine the monetary value of any written document more than a century old.

Suggested Characteristics

Few bookhounds can resist the lure of an unexplored ruin or Bookstore, particularly if such a site is the source of legends.  Whatever their motivations, Bookhounds combine the qualities of a scrappy historian with the self-made heroism of a treasure-hunting scoundrel.
