Transient Image

As a transient, things like "commitment" have never really agreed with you. You hate being tied down, and never stay in one place very long. Its around the time that people you've met casually address you by your first name that you know it's time to move on. You've amassed a variety of skills by jumping from town to town and job to job. You rarely make friends, and try not to make enemies, but you certainly know how to talk to sweet talk almost anyone given the right circumstances, and if things go south, you can easily lose people in a crowd.

Skill Proficiencies: Choose three from among AthleticsDeceptionHistoryInsightPerceptionPerformancePersuasion
Tool Proficiencies: Cooks utensils, a gaming set of your choice, and one from among land vehicles, water vehicles, or sea/air vehicles.

Feature: Another Face in the Crowd

You've spent a lot of time in the alleyways and backstreets of many a fine city, and you know how to make yourself scarce when not-so-friendly faces show up asking the wrong kinds of questions. When attempting to hide or escape from a pursuer, your skill at maneuvering in throngs of people gives you a distinct advantage. When you're in a crowd, you gain a +10 and advantage on any Dexterity (Stealth) checks you make. In addition, when you make an Intelligence (History) check to remember something about a town or city you're in, you may add twice your proficiency bonus to the roll if you have spent more than ten days in that location.

Suggested Characteristics

Transients are homeless drifters who wander from place to place, taking odd jobs to earn their bread. They love to travel and hate being bound by commitment or obligation. While transients are normally honest and hardworking, even the good-natured ones aren't above cheating people out of money in order to get by. They may steal an apple to feed themselves if they're hungry, or to feed a starving orphan, but most transients try to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Their kind are usually viewed with thinly veiled suspicion in most towns, at least until they establish a good reputation, and they don't need the city guard stoving their heads over petty thievery. Some transients make their living by conning people out of large sums of money. These "grifters" are cunning and untrustworthy, and even other transients try to avoid them whenever possible since trouble usually isn't far behind them.
