Once, you ruled. Once, your word was the command of many, and your will was done. Once, people flocked to your side, begging your favor to improve their lives, and you gave it out as you saw fit.
Once, it was your time.
That time is no more.
Your throne now belongs to another. Your home has cast you out, one way or another. Your lands are no longer yours, and now the only person who does your will is yourself.
Things have changed, and it looks like they're staying that way.
Work with your DM to establish a world-appropriate location for your previous reign. How large of lands did you rule? How did your subjects and neighbors feel about you? Why were you deposed?

Even if you haven't held any real political power in a long time, once you're at the top, you never really lose that air of royalty. Common folk tend to view you as a figure of authority wherever you go, and nobles are more favorable towards you and your mannerisms than towards most adventurers, without it being as hard and fast as it would be if they saw you as real royalty.
Suggested Characteristics
Being deposed places a person on a boundary line between nobility and exile. Sometimes they adjust easily, sometimes they don't, but all of their experiences have shaped them - for better, or for worse.
