Unlike an artisan part of a larger organization, you don't get a steady supply of standard materials. You have to search the materials at hand to see if any are of any use, but you can use them better than normal, standard material. When you select this background, choose the following types of equipment you are familiar with: 1 type of armor, 4 types of simple weapons, and 2 types of martial weapons. You can substitute 2 simple weapons or 1 martial weapon for a tool familiarity. (NOT proficiency)

 
Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Nature
Tool Proficiencies: Two types of artisan's tools. 
Languages: You can Speak, read and write Common, Dwarvish and Elvish. 
Equipment: One set of Artisan's tools, with which you are proficient, a set of Traveler's Clothes, A scroll case holding letters of past clients describing your work and their satisfaction, and a pouch containing 15gp.
 
Feature: What I have to work with

You must have been able to closely examine When selecting your materials, you can make a mining (Nature) or a selecting (perception) check to only use the perfect materials, DC 15 (DC 20 for materials to be used for magical items). On a success, you find 1d4 pounds of perfect material. When using only material found this way, you make a crafting check, with advantage, against a DC10. For magical items, use DC10 + 1/2 Rarity minimum level (DMG pg129) Rounded down. Consider daily time and cost for mundane items to be 10gp per 2 pounds. On a success, the day goes smoothly; if both rolls are a success, both count towards the day (2 days worth of work, but only the first success uses costs. Each Natural 20 counts as 2 by itself.
