Throughout the forests of Kaiming, there are mountaintop monasteries where monks train in martial arts and meditation in hopes of enlightenment and reclamation. The foundation of their practice is to improve the self; body, and mind. The monks believe that the world is perfect and by perfecting oneself, one can lose themselves, transcend beyond their body, beyond their self and become one with that perfection. Few have ever achieved enlightenment and even fewer have returned.
Someone undergoing reclamation was a monk that became enlightened and thus has lost their "self." Wiped clean of all training and growth, they must set out on a journey to learn anew. By doing so, they hope to fully reclaim their perfected "self." This is the ultimate goal of every Kaiming monk.
- Skill Proficiencies: History
A monk undergoing reclamation has already perfected themselves, body and their mind and has simply lost their connection to it. Because of this, they tend to pick up on things faster than someone learning it for the first time. Learning a skill, practicing a move, or uncovering truths may happen in rapidly or in an instant at the DM's discretion, especially if it is connected with your pre-transcendence background. In these occasions instead of spending hours learning, you will regain a memory of your old self.
Suggested Characteristics
The process of transcendence can leave a monk undergoing reclamation with a number of effects or quirks.
