Dragons don't think in weeks or even years, their plans include decades or even centuries. But even if they can walk undetected among every other race by shapeshifting into humanoid form to further them, many still prefer to have loyal and reliable agents in the field, doing much of the necessary legwork for them. Having received a thorough education from their dragon master and suitable tutors since childhood, dragon's disciples serve as their eyes, ears and sometimes voice. Their diplomats, emissaries, couriers, spies - and if necessary assassins. Disciples of metallic dragons usually are engaged in friendly competition with each other, whilst encounters of disciples of chromatic dragons most certainly end lethal - sometimes even when they serve the same chromatic dragon, if they think they can get away with it.
Work with your DM to determine the details so they fit into the setting and campaign you're playing. Who's the dragon you serve? How much of your training did you recieve from them? In which role(s) did you serve them until now? What kind of dragon and how old are they? Do they have a long term plan? Do you/they have any rivals? etc.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two among Arcana, Insight, Investigation or Persuasion.
- Tool Proficiencies: Choose proficiency with Alchemist's Supplies or Calligrapher's Supplies.
You are also proficient in playing Dragonchess
- Languages: You can speak, read and write draconic.
- Equipment: A set of fine clothes or traveler's clothes and a pouch with 20 gp.
You can tap into the mystic bond with your dragon master to gain advantage on a skill check on the two skill proficiencies you chose from this background. You can't use this feature again until you took a long rest.
