Menzoberranzan Renegade Image

As a child, you grew up in one of the houses of Menzoberranzan, either studying the ways of fighting in Melee-Magthere or the ways of magic in Sorcere. This drow society is heavily matriarchal and women are always seen in a higher regard than men. The women of Menzoberranzan almost always are trained in the ways of magic and the men are trained as protectors and fighters, with only a select gifted few chosen to study magic. These men can go on to become powerful archmages within a House, whereas the women go on to be High Priestesses of Lolth, and Matron Mothers of houses.

The Drow of Menzoberranzan are known to be cruel by nature, often inflicting torturous punishments on captive prisoners or on disgraced members of their houses. They are known to be extremely wary of outsiders and consider themselves better than their cousins, the surface elves. This has begun to change in recent years, however changing an the entire outlook of a race is proving difficult.

One day, in your formative years, you decided to leave Menzoberranzan and never look back. Perhaps you have been growing uncomfortable with the Drow's view of life for some time, or perhaps you bore witness to an event that changed your entire point of view in an instant. Whatever happened, you know that the majority of the Drow in Menzoberranzan do not look kindly upon runaways so stealing away in the darkness of the Underdark, you made your way to the surface and hoped you'd never be found.

Feature: On The Run

Always looking over your shoulder in fear of capture, you know how to make yourself scarce and moreso, you know someone that can assist you in disappearing quickly and quietly. Work with your DM to create an NPC that your character knows, and how familiar your PC is with that NPC. The DM has final say on that NPC's alignment and character behaviour, and they will not work against their own nature.

This NPC has the means to relocate you to a city of your choosing. The cost of this is down to your DM, and it should be appropriately priced determined by the level of threat your character is facing, how far away you want to be relocated, and how quickly you need it done. If you are unable to pay for this, work with the DM to see if it can be paid for in other ways.

Depending on the campaign, this may involve your character leaving the campaign and rejoining at a later date if the main story is not moving with your character. This should be worked out with your DM before the campaign begins.

Suggested Characteristics
