Astronomer - Starlight Coast Image

You've spent a significant portion of your life studying the stars, planets, and other wonders of the universe. Your knowledge of the night sky makes you a skilled navigator on land allowing you to find your way when others might not. You are interested in mysteries of the universe and the forces that rule it.

Visiting observatories allows you to gaze through telescopes and chart the heavens above. You know the stars as you know your hometown. You've traveled dozens of different locations and met with scientists from over the globe to look at the stars and constellations.

Skill Proficiencies: Perception, Investigation
Tool Proficiencies: Cartographers Tool, Calligraphers Tools
Equipment:
  • A set of worn scholars robes.
  • 5 sets of obsidian worth 25gp each, used for Astral Stargazing.
  • A class ring from the college I attended.
  • A small collapsible telescope.
  • A booklet with his research and findings of stars and astronomical anomalies including the date, time and locations seen, star charts detailing the constellations and other cosmic astronomical objects such as nebulae and galaxies.

Feature: Astral Stargazing
You have an innate ability to to connect with the constellations at night to gain some foresight. If it is night and there is a clear view of the sky, you can spend your short or long rest stargazing and studying the night sky to roll on the Astral Stargazing Table. This feature may be used only once per day, and the caster must be at full hit points at the beginning of the rest. If the effect succeeds it has the same stats as the Divination spell.

When using obsidian (worth at least 25 gp) infused with your Astromancy magic, you can observe the stars and refer to your booklet/star charts, and ask a single question concerning a specific goal, event, or activity to occur within 7 days. The DM offers a truthful reply. The reply might be a short phrase, a cryptic rhyme, or an omen. The spell doesn't take into account any possible circumstances that might change the outcome, such as the casting of additional Spells or the loss or gain of a companion. If you cast this spell two or more times before finishing your next Long Rest, there is a cumulative 25 percent chance for each casting after the first that you get a random reading. The DM makes this roll in Secret.

The obsidian is consumed in the process and you begin to see the stars and constellations begin to shine brighter than normal. You are the only person who is able to see this happen, when referring to your booklet and star charts you can see certain constellations glow in a pattern. The answer to your question then appears in the constellations themselves in the written language of Celestial, which only you can see.
