You are a victim of a powerul Curse, which fused your mind (and body, if you want) with that of another.
The result is an individual whose personality is the in-between of two others, making your behaviour appear erratic or downright insane to those around you.
Your dual mind is an effective individual, different from both your other personalities, and though it might refer to itself as either one, fully unaware of its nature as the victim of a curse.
You should discuss with the GM the details of how and why this happened, and the ways in which such a powerful curse might be ended, and how that would change your character.
I advise against fleshing out a full background for both characters, and instead focusing on the "original" one and just do a framework for the "intruder", to understand how that interferes with the "original"'s mindset and actions. You might also find it interesting to let the "intruder" shape itself during the campaign while your character acts, using said framework as a foundation.
- Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Insight and Deception.
- Languages: Two of your choice.
- Equipment: You can choose any 8 mundane objects to gain during character creation, 4 for each of your personality halves, provided that you discuss them with your GM. It's highly recommended to have at least one or two worthless ones, useful only to better flesh out your character. You also get a coin pouch containing 15gp
As a cursed individual, you are made of two different beings, giving you different perks based on whether your minds or both your bodies and minds were merged.
Mind: Your character's personality is the result of a compromise between two others. Choose 2 sets of alignments to find the correct merged one for your character. When you've found the merged alignment, you can shift it once in the Chaotic-Lawful or Evil-Good axis: for instance, you could have been a Chaotic Good Eladrin merged with a Legal Evil Hag, making you a Neutral, Neutral Good/Evil or Chaotic/Lawful Neutral character.
You also have to decide both of their personality traits and the resulting compromise. Consult the table below to get some inspiration.
Some mind-affecting spells will work differently on your character, like Detect Thoughts or Mind Blank. Discuss with your GM to imagine flavouful outcomes for these spells. In the table below some examples are dished out.
Lastly, you always count as having rolled 20 on any checks to hide your curse, unless special conditions apply to the roll, to your and/or the GM's discretion.
Body and Mind: Your character's body has the combined traits of both its "component" bodies. For instance, if one of the bodies has blonde hair and the other one's dark, the result would either be a darker blonde, lighter black, or even black/blonde hair with a blonde/black stripe, accent or the like.
You are also immune to any attempt to use a divination spell to get any information on you just by name, which always results in a "Nonexistent" answer or spell failure. Any caster attempting to divinate you must either have a clear image of your new body or face or a piece of it, such as a strand of hair.
Suggested Characteristics
Your characteristics are ultimately determined by a compromise between two others, possibly opposite ones. As such, you tend to have wildly inconsistent behaviour to the stares o others, but you might have some on which either of your personalities has no effect, which might subtly give away the fact that there's something wrong with you.
