In your time you have seen a grand amount of commerce and trades happen and you've acquired the knowledge on how to properly persuade and or deceive others. You were capable in your career but for whatever reason you chose to adventure choosing battling wicked monsters instead of conversing with swindling merchants.

 

 

Skill Proficiencies:  persuasion, deception

Tool Proficiencies: The ex businessman has two tool proficiency's, You might not have always been a businessman maybe you had a rougher past so add a proficiency in thieves tools, forgery kit or disguise kit. Perhaps you needed to travel for your commerce so add a proficiency in navigators kit, if they appraised items add a proficiency in jewelers kit.

Languages: Nortle had the monopoly on weapons and metals so he had often dealt with dwarves and gnomes. In time he adapted and learned their language. 

Due to this when making any deal or trade with dwarves or gnomes they are more likely to agree on uneven terms.

Equipment: They start with 10GP, fine clothes and a compass

Suggested Characteristics

Your character should be insightful in how merchants work and trading. It is important to note their reason of adventuring, for example if they were tired of their or fired. Maybe they got sent of by their employer on a death mission.
