You have been banished from your ancestral homeland, whether it was specifically you, or you suffer the punishment of your ancestors banishment. You don't have a home to call your own, you wander from place to place, a nomad. You are very comfortable navigating both the wilds, and city streets to get to where you need to go. You have met countless people, seen too many faces to remember, and forgotten more names than you can count. Nothing feels permanent for you, and you have thrived as a nomad, an explorer, a recluse, a hunter-gatherer, or even a mercenary for hire.
- Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Survival
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan’s tools
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A set of artisan’s tools (one of your choice), a dagger, a trophy or trinket from your former home/family, a set of traveler’s clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp
Why are you banished? Was it something you did, or was it something an ancestor did that has carried over to your family name? Is it something that is redeemable, or are you forever cursed to wander? You can work with your DM to determine the exact nature of your banishment, or you can choose or roll on the table below to determine the reason behind your banishment.
d5 | Banishment |
---|---|
1 | You or your family caused a cataclysm |
2 | You or your family lost an important item |
3 | You or your family let enemies in by mistake |
4 | You or your family caused the death of an important individual |
5 | You are banished due to corrupt individuals |
Wherever you go, you tend to blend seamlessly into the background or within the local population. Also, because you wander and have seen so much, you know exactly how to talk yourself into, or out of, any situation, and then quickly become forgotten.
Suggested Characteristics
Your banishment has left you scarred and even slightly bitter. You come off as aloof and uncaring, and are reluctant to trust others and make long lasting friendships, at least on the surface. Deep down, you yearn for a place to call home and for those you can rely on to be family.
