Nora Tribe

The Nora are a human tribe. They are an isolationist, matriarchal, hunter-gatherer society situated in what is known as the Sacred Land, south of what used to be Yellowstone.  They're ruled by a group of High Matriarchs and worship a deity known as All-Mother.  They have many rituals - such as the Proving - and have strong taboos against the technology of the ancient world and talking to outcasts.  Due to their practice of oral tradition and lack of written language, much of the Nora's history is lost to time.

They live simple lives, with everything they do being for the good/betterment of the tribe.  They're extremely religious and have many rituals, including a naming ritual, a coming of age trial known as the Proving, etc.  They believe that all life - human, animal, and machine - originated from All-Mother Mountain.  They're superstitious about the "Metal World" and anything dealing with the Old Ones - those places strictly forbidden to their people as they're believed to be tainted.  In fact, leaving the Sacred Land is punishable by exile.

Roles within the tribe include everything from stitchers and healers, to hunters and braves.  There's also a position known as Seeker.  It is a special role given to a brave by the High Matriarchs, which allows the Nora in question to leave the Sacred Land without fear of exile.
