Instead of regular proficiencies you may take proficiency points,
When doing so for the first time you lose your global proficiency bonus and instead receive proficiency points.
Your proficiency points equal 1 + your intelligence modifier per level. For any proficiencies (except global armor weapon and language proficiencies since that determines what you can use) you gain you may count this total as if it were 1 level higher.
With these you may spec these points into any skill or type of proficiency increasing the bonus up to a maximum of 18 proficiency in that given skill.
