Mercenaries, merchant marines, inquisitors, arcane researchers. Those with specialty skills know what they can bring to the table and are not shy from offering those services... for the right price. Freelancers, though not one to actively seek adventure, will often be seen supporting various parties while providing invaluable skills to meet whatever ends their employer hired them for. No matter how grandiose or miniscule, wherever there is money to be made, a freelancer will always be there to capitalize.
Once every 7 in game days, you are able to capitalize on the services that you are providing to your employer. You receive a payment as part of your agreement that is proportional to the quality of the skills you provide and the station of which your patron holds. You and the DM decide upon the initial arrangement, however you both have liberty to leave service (as the player) or to be fired (by the DM’s NPC) respectively. Additionally, you may grant yourself advantage on one Charisma (Deception, Intimidation, or Persuasion) check to renegotiate your terms of service with your patron. You may only use this ability one time per employer, and every check made with that employer afterwards is made with disadvantage. The ability resets after striking a deal with a new patron.
Suggested Characteristics
Freelancers tend toward chaotic moralities, but are not always beholden to those values and are free to carve their own paths of their own free will.
