You are someone who can tell the difference between spices by sight or texture, one who knows the value of a properly seasoned stew. You are on a constant search for the choicest ingredients, the most balanced diet, and the perfect flavor. Chefs who lack ambition look for employment in wealthy manors or gritty taverns, but cooks know that their art is wasted on the bland tastes of fancy lads and common folk. Food is your call to adventure.
- Skill Proficiencies: In your culinary studies you have acquired skills applicable both in and out of the kitchen.
- Tool Proficiencies: Cook's utensils or Brewer's supplies
- Languages: You can understand one additional standard or exotic language related to your culinary influence.
- Equipment: A book of your recipes, tools of the trade, 2 full waterskins, 10 fine rations, various kitchen essentials, and a small wooden box with 6 vials of different spices or a belt pouch containing 15 gold pieces.
A cook's knowledge is ever growing, but even the most celebrated among them owes their talents to a form of training.
Whether that training comes from traveling among different cultures, foraging in the wilderness, serving hot meals from the back of a busy inn, or spending time in the well-equipped kitchens of guilds and elites, a cook never strays too far from their culinary roots.

- You can find ingredients in just about any environment. For any roll relating to finding food or ingredients, add 1d6 to your roll.
- In your pursuit of a veteran palate you have tasted foods both fair and foul, and thus have grown resistant to them. You have an advantage on any Constitution saving throw involving consumption, including potions and poisons.
- As an action, you can inspect a drink or plate of food within 5 feet of you and determine whether it is poisoned, provided that you can both see and smell it, or only taste it.
- During a long rest, you can prepare and/or serve a meal or beverage that helps you and your allies recover from the rigors of adventuring, provided you have suitable proficiencies and supplies on hand. This creates up to 6 servings, and each person who consumes a serving regains one additional Hit Die at the end of their next long rest, including this one.
- In addition, those who partake of a meal served in this manner have an advantage on Constitution saving throws against disease for the next 24 hours, and those who consume any food or beverage prepared in this manner will have 1d4 Hit Points restored.
Suggested Characteristics
Food is the great passion of a cook's heart, however this passion was inspired. Perhaps you were starving and lost when a traveling chef rescued you with their culinary knowledge, or it was a craft shared with a parent to continue a generations-long family tradition. You may even have been a beggar, dreaming of the decadent meals privy only to the rich and powerful while you survived to hone your craft. Your relationship to cooking and food has informed your wider worldview and behavior.
