Wizards of the Island of Vandaron, usually called Vandarim Mages, are descendants of the ancient Mages of Urú Idîl, who standardized the rules for arcane casters back in the Second Age. They represent the pinnacle for arcane casters, and have developed many refinements, especially for ritual casting.

Skill Proficiencies: If you have proficiency in Arcana from your class, you automatically get Expertise in Arcana (double proficiency bonus) and proficiency in one other Intelligence skill of choice. Otherwise,
you may choose two Intelligence skills of choice, which can be double proficiency in Arcana.
Tool Proficiencies: Alchemist’s Tools and Calligrapher’s Tools.
Languages: One of your choice. If you are an arcane spellcaster, you may learn Qadoşh.
Equipment: A spell book, a compact alchemist’s kit, calligrapher’s supplies, a scholar’s pack, a set of traveling clothes, and a belt pouch containing 10gp worth of mixed coins.

Feature: Ritual Caster. and Simple Crafting. and Athame.

Ritual Caster. You get the revised form of the Ritual Casting feat (found below) for free.

Simple Crafting. With access to the appropriate tools and sufficient materials, you can craft 1 potion or 1 spell scroll during a long rest.

Athame. Wizards (and only wizards) learn to craft a ritual athame, which allows them to cast any non-instantaneous spell they know as a ritual. It also functions as an arcane focus, and allows them to cast the detect magic spell at will, without expending a spell slot. If you choose to expend a spell slot in addition to the ritual casting time, the spell functions as if cast with a spell slot two levels higher than the one used. You must use a slot equal to or higher than the level of the spell itself. If you use a spell slot three or more levels higher than the spell, the spell’s duration is doubled, or it becomes 24 hours, whichever is longer.
Lastly, if you have the athame in your hand, and you are aware of a spell being cast directly on you, you can attempt to interrupt the spell without using a spell slot or counterspell. As your reaction, roll an Arcana check of DC 15 + the spell’s level (or the slot used, whichever is higher). On a success, the spell fails and has no effect. This cannot be used for area of effect spells, only on single target spells.
