Hellish Adopted Image

You were adopted by fiends, and raised by them amongst humans. Your fiendish foster-parents tried to educate you in their laws, and taught you how to blend in well with humans. Your morals might be questionable, but you know how to abide by the law when it suits you. Despite their fiendish nature, they raised you as close to lovingly as a fiend could do. You begged your foster-parents to let you explore the world, and they reluctantly allowed you to leave. But they continue to watch over you...

A Child raised by its fiendish parent is forced to serve them, but they often do so out of admiration and dread, but also with the expectation that it will one day rise to a place of prominence. Children raised raised this way often serve as soldiers, envoys, and personal attendants to greater devils. In the terrestial world, they are encouraged to carry as much authority as it can muster through sheer strength and force of will, and will be rewarded greatly for it.

Skill Proficiencies: PersuasionorDeception andStealth
Tool Proficiencies: You learned the trade of your adopted parents, and are proficient in the tools suitable for that trade.
Languages: You know the language spoken by your adoptive family. You know the language of your bio-parents well enough, but you cannot speak it fluently, only sentences with bad syntax and grammar (e.g., "Name is I, Todd"). When you speak in this language, those who understand are inclined to ignore you or take offense.
Equipment: A set of common clothes matching the style worn by your current family, something of a trinket left from your birth parents (cannot be worth more than 5gp), a toolkit given by your adoptive parents to help you on your way and pouch with 10gp

Feature: Mark of Hell, Cult Favour

Present in any civilized land are secret (or not so secret) cults devoted to usurping governments, accruing power or seeking forbidden knowledge: some groups achieve this through worshiping or making pacts with powerful entities like devils. A creature with the Mark of Hell is a desirable find for such a cult. A cult learning of your existence will send agents to strike a bargain with you. They can offer esoteric knowledge; access to hidden clubs, guilds and conspiracies; and secret places to rest. In return, they expect you to partake in infernal rituals of powerlust and sacrifice. Reneging on this deal can make an enemy of that damned sect; on the other hand cults are often in competition with one another.

Suggested Characteristics

The terrestrial world is a far cry from the fires, cacophonies and tyranny of the Hells. Your foster parents will try to be accustomed to civilized lands, or the relative peace. This may be a source of absolute chaos as you might have learned some questionable morals and lessons about the world trough the lens of your fiendish foster parents.

Variant Hellish Adopted: Barber Tools

Because of the known nature of your job requiring sharp objects, it is almost expected that you carry with you this kind of tool. As such, guards and any other sentries who are aware of your occupation are lenient on you when you carry weapons like daggers and shortswords. They feel less antsy with you having those kinds of weapons, and will assume it is probably for your work. Therefore, they are also less likely to confiscate your "tools".
