Since days of old you've been walking the lands of Toril and beyond. Your life had been extended by some means, be they divine intervention, a curse, a self-inflicted spell, etc. Whatever its inception, this has allowed you to live for many ages and in your travels, you have seen many a world-shaping event. You have seen the rise and fall of empires, the lives and deaths of heroes and villains alike, and events both disastrous and wondrous of natural, unnatural, and supernatural origin. Throughout your lifetime you have been known by many a civilization be that as an advisor, protector, healer, or even just a myth told to children as they start to sleep dreaming of an era gone by, and those yet to come, for you have outlived the civilizations of the past and will continue to outlive the civilizations of the future.
- Skill Proficiencies: Due to your long life, there is not many a story you do not know, even having been present at a number of them, this grants you proficiencies in history and insight
- Tool Proficiencies: Your long life has given your great familiarity with the land this grants you proficiencies with alchemists supplies and cartographers tools.
- Languages: Throughout your life, you have learned many languages and mastered quite a few giving you proficiency in 1 standard language and 2 exotic languages of your choosing.
- Equipment: You start with a map(an area of your choosing), a journal, 5 torches, and a box with a list of the locations of keepsakes from over the years(choose three wondrous items to be on the list).
You have appeared as a powerful figure in myths and legends throughout time and if you can prove your identity to a given person with a show of your mythical power(get creative and try and customize it to your character) they will be impressed, intimidated, or in awe and be more suggestible +4 to all charisma checks on that person until the next long rest, you can do this 3 times per long rest.
Suggested Characteristics
I think this is a rather flexible background so customize the characteristics to your own character. They could be old and grizzled, wise and sagely, have a complete disregard for life because they've outlived so much or they could have an extreme appreciation for it. The point being, you should make it your own and do with the background what you will.
