You are a hunter. Whether you hunt monstrous beasts, alien oddities, or just normal animals, you have become adept at tracking, predicting, and killing your chosen prey with utmost skill and efficiency.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from Nature, Stealth, Animal Handling and Survival.
- Tool Proficiencies: Leather worker's tools, and Herbalism kit or Poisoner's kit.
- Languages: Language of your chosen prey. If they don't have one, you may choose one language from the list of languages instead.
- Equipment: Herbalism kit or Poisoner's kit, skinning knife, leather worker's tools, a trophy from your best hunt (i.e. a bear's claw or deer antlers), and an animal pet from the list below.
As a hunter, you have befriended an animal who follows you during your hunts. Perhaps it assists you in some way while tracking your prey or merely provides companionship during long hunts. You can roll on the following table to determine your pet, or choose one that best fits your character.
Your experience in tracking your prey has taught you the lay of the land. Choose one type of terrain to be you familiar terrain: Grasslands, Forest, Artic, Desert, etc. You gain advantage on Stealth, Survival, and Nature checks made in the chosen environment. Also, while in your familiar terrain, you can spend a short rest scouting in the area. After the rest, you gain some knowledge on the movements of your chosen prey, if they are in the area (DM's discretion). Additionally, while in your familiar terrain you gain a +2 to perception checks made to find hidden creatures and +2 to your passive perception.
Suggested Characteristics
Hunters, spending most of their time in the wilds, are often considered by most city folk to be gruff and offensive to the eyes. To hunters, their prey may represent their only tie to the world, as they may devote their entire life to tracking and slaying it.
Contacts
Hunters may find contacts in citizens who have been attacked by their chosen prey. Persons such as this may be able to describe the movements of said prey, or even reveal the location of the creature's lair.
