Adventuring is in your blood, along with a healthy thirst of knowledge. You scoured the world for graves, ruins and dungeons. You dove into libraries when you came to a dead end. All to unravel the mysteries of the past. These ventures have made you an expert on dungeons and their inner workings. You're exploring has carried you (or will carry you) across the globe, always hunting slivers of legends and dungeons.
- Skill Proficiencies: History, Investigation
- Tool Proficiencies: Carthographer's Tools
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: A wooden case containing a map to a ruin or dungeon, a bullseye lantern, a miner's pick, a set of traveler's clothes, a shovel, a two-person tent, a trinket recovered from a dig site, and a pouch containing 25 gp
When confronted by a dungeon, you may know a set number of things about the dungeon beforehand, at your DM's discretion. These things could be: the period when it was built, what/who built it, what creatures tend to use it, what purpose the dungeon had when it was build and whether or not traps might be active.
Note that the DM may decide to give you only part of the knowledge stated above. Also note that whether or not traps might be active is no guarantee whether or not the new occupants have reactivated them. The knowledge you gain about the traps is about the original dungeon. New or reactivated traps would not be part of your knowledge.
Suggested Characteristics
Explorers are defined by their thirst for knowledge and adventure, and their characteristics reflect this. Eager to explore, an explorer values curiosity and freedom. They can hardly resist sites of legends and myths. Some explore to plunder while others explore to discover and reveal lost knowledge. Whatever their reasoning, explorers are a (un)healthy combination of a studious historian and a heroic treasure hunter.

You've learned that there is an easier way of gaining what you want without having to face other people to give it to you. After all, the dead don't talk.
To gain treasure beyond measure, you slip into tombs and ruins, seeking that which the dead will no longer need. Whether it is magical, powerful, dangerous or not, you sell your ill-gotten gains easily.
You've seen so many different artifacts that you can discern real from fake. You also are easily capable of determining the monetary value of artifacts and art objects older than a century.
