You have spent much of your early life acting as the interpreter between people of differing cultures. Because of your quick study of languages, you had risen high within the court.

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, or Persuasion
Tool Proficiencies: Calligraphers tools
Languages: Elvish, Dwarvish, and Two of your choice.
Equipment: A set of fine clothes and a pouch containing 5 gp

Feature: Polygot

Your knowledge of language has given you greater skills when interacting with verbal languages that you are not fluent in. You can attempt to speak and understand other languages that you do not know at a disadvantage. This extends to only the spoken word, not written languages. You can generally get your ideas across, though you may garner snickers, looks of puzzlement,  or outright outrage at your choice of words or accent. If any other feature, skill, or feat would give you a choice of other languages to learn, you can also learn one additional language.

Suggested Characteristics

Use the tables for the guild artisan background in the Player’s Handbook as the basis for your traits and motivations, modifying the entries when appropriate to suit your identity as a courtier.

The noble court or bureaucratic organization where you got your start is directly or indirectly associated with your bond (which could pertain to certain individuals in the group, such as your sponsor or mentor). Your ideal might be concerned with the prevailing philosophy of your court or organization.
